SOBRE LA FALLA (ON FAILURE)

- ¿A move? There is no such thing. The only thing that exists is the fracture. The mistake. And then, inhabiting the frozen interior.

Fragment attributed to ‘On Error’, by Avdotya Terskim.

In 1911, Advotya Terskim (Авдо́тья Тэрским) wrote 'On error' (Hасчёт ошибка). The world as it was known was on the verge of disappearing: in a few years, war and revolution would wipe out the European empires of the 19th century. 'On Error' is about an impossible relationship.

I read 'On error' many years ago. I remember very well the scenario in which the story takes place, the lands that build the novel, and that at times is premonitory. Nature bears witness to the change that is happening, making evident what has been lost, what will no longer be here, without suggesting any kind of horizon. The landscape as an inevitable background music that leads the main characters and the readers towards a shared ending.

'On error' is linked to that landscape, to that backdrop for the impossible, armed with nonsense and obstructions.
